Substance Abuse and Mental Health Programs...A Better Option

Having served as an Executive Director in a residential treatment program for women and children, one of the areas of successful transition to the community was assisting our residents in finding not only their first jobs while in the program, but also to educate them in career development.  Providing this educational material combined with their treatment plans, increased the participant's motivation substantially when combined with their treatment plans and led to highly successful completion rates in the program.

If you are considering utilizing our trainings for your residential program, they can be:

  • Purchased by your residents as a single user purchase;

  • We can customize the trainings to integrate with your treatment plans as a group offering and/or a monitored and graded training where results upon completion are provided for review by your staff.

  • We can provide virtual trainings individually or as a group.

  • If you are considering having a donor sponsor the program, we are happy to help you with the elements of your proposal request that address the trainings, treatment integration and performance measurements.

Email me at info@carothersandassociates.org to discuss a customized option for your program and I am happy to help.

"Implementing an Adapted Version of the Job Seekers’ Workshop in a Residential Program for Patients with Substance Use Disorders"

Despite the noted limitations, this study has potential important implications. Our experience with the JSW indicated that it is a promising intervention for residential patients with substance use problems. Too few residential programs offer adequate vocational training (Hall et al., 2001Magura & Staines, 2004), even though patients express interest in such services (Hser et al., 1999Friedmann et al., 2004).
